Citlali Falcon works at an organization that helps immigrants who move to Westchester, NY. Not long after the pandemic began, Citlali’s husband lost his job. Hers was now the only income in the family and she was working from home while her son did his best to navigate virtual learning.
At one point, they had used most of their savings and, while she was helping her clients find resources and food banks, she found herself needing to turn to those same food banks to put food on her own table.
In this piece, Citlali holds tightly to five ropes which contain parts of her story from our interview. These excerpts from her story focus mainly on her life at home during that time. A second piece about her life at work is coming next.
