This piece is part of a series on personal prayers. Inspired by Berachot 31b where we learn “Channah cast words to G-d on high,” my Flinging Prayer pieces visually represent the prayers that I find myself casting or throwing at God.
These prayers hang from the ceiling, caught in mid throw.
Having choices in life is both wonderful and overwhelming. I started my post-college life as a mechanical engineer and quickly moved to the Jewish non-profit world. After working with Reform, Conservative, and Orthodox organizations, I decided to try a different path to pursue my art. In each and every step along the way, I asked God to help me make the right decision. The colored branches in this piece represent the many choices we face in our lives. The branches converge into a clear path as this prayer is slowly answered.
