Last Sunday, I had the privilege of working with the Chavurah families at the Community Synagogue of Rye. This group of 5th-7th graders take part in an alternative religious school where they learn through experiential programs. I was honored to lead their opening session for the year where the students and parents came together to study the traveler’s prayer and talk about their hopes for the coming year.
Each of the four Chavurah groups created a banner based on their interpretation of the text which will be added to and enhanced throughout the year. By the end of the year, their banners will be full of the memories they created throughout their journeys.
