Muslims and Jews Make Art Part 2
Last week, third and fourth grade students from Temple Beth El of Northern Westchester and the Upper Westchester Muslim Society (UWMS) came back together to create fiber art based on the sketches they made after studying stories found in both the Quran and Jewish texts. With their sketches as a guide, they used fabric collage to create a quilt block that tells a story about Abraham.
When each piece was done, the groups shared the stories they studied and explained how their artwork represents that text.
Below are the finished quilt blocks from the four groups. See last week’s post for a description of each story.
Next, I will sew the four panels together to create a quilt that will be presented to the UWMS for their new building.
