Quilting the African Sky

I’ve had a wonderful couple days in the studio and am having a great time working on the Peace Corps piece.  The last image arrived just before the long weekend, which coincided with the holiday of Shavuot … so it was Wednesday before I was able to actually add it to the piece (torture).  After that was in place, I wrote selected quotes from Katie’s blog in the background using a silver paint pen.

That dried for a day and then it was time for some layering and quilting!  After sampling some quilting designs on print-outs of the quilt top, I decided to use a zig-zag free motion in the sky.  The piece, as it stands now is below.
