Women’s Caucus for Art Launches New York Chapter!

Several months ago, I attended a meeting held by the Women’s Caucus for Art expecting to sit quietly in the back and maybe meet a few interesting people.  The conversation moved to the lack of a New York chapter and, fast forward a few months, I find myself about to be the Co-President of this new chapter.  Marcia Annenberg will be my Co-President and Linda Stein will be the Vice President.

Our launch meeting will be held during the national WCA Convention 9:00am on Thursday, February 10 at the Hilton Hotel (1335 Ave of the Americas).  During that meeting, we will talk about the goals of the chapter and our upcoming networking, exhibition, and performance opportunities.  We will also talk about ways to get involved in the chapter.

I’m really excited about helping to bring the WCA to NYC and hope that any women artists out there will consider joining us!  As women artists, we are still underrepresented in NY galleries and museums and the WCA has been working to change this since its founding in 1972.

Please spread the word and encourage women artists to attend the meeting!  You do not have to register for the conference to attend this informational launch meeting.  Feel free to contact me at heather@sewingstories.com with any questions.
