Unbounded Joy

unbounded joy smThis journal quilt was designed during the holiday of Sukkot, which is referred to in the liturgy as “the time of our joy”.  As I sat in synagogue during our time of joy, I started thinking about all the things in my life right now that I have to celebrate: an upcoming wedding, the health of family and friends, time and space to work on my art, a loving and supportive network of people who care about me, ….  The list goes on.  And I wanted to create a piece that captured this joyful time in my life.

The poultry fencing that covers this bright piece is cut away, allowing the quilting lines and colored wires to burst forth.  Even the binding breaks free of its straight edges to dance and rejoice at this incredible, joyful time.

  1. I think this one is my favorite – love how vibrant it is!
I am so very impressed with your process from getting the idea to actualizing it in fabric.
